Prof. (Dr.) Manish Prateek, M.S., Ph.D., is a distinguished academician, researcher, and technology professional serving as Professor and Vice-Chancellor of GRD Uttarakhand University. He brings over 27 years of rich experience spanning Industry, Research, and Academia. He is also the President of Next Generation Computing Technologies.

He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Computer Engineering from Kursk State Technical University, Kursk, Russia, now known as Southwest State University. He earned his Ph.D. from L. N. Mithila University, Darbhanga, Bihar, in the area of Manufacturing and Robotics. His doctoral research focused on “Automation and Microprocessor-Based Control of an Optimally Designed Solar Tracking System.”

After completing his academic qualifications, Prof. Prateek began his professional career in the IT industry. In 1999, he had the opportunity to work on a two-year R&D project in the field of Manufacturing and Robotics at Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Canada.

Prof. Prateek has been a pioneer in conceptualizing and developing industry-oriented B.Tech. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with IBM India, beginning in 2010. His work in developing specialized undergraduate programme frameworks has contributed to strengthening industry-academia collaboration and has subsequently been adopted and appreciated by several IT organizations and academic institutions.

As an accomplished researcher and mentor, he has guided 16 Ph.D. scholars in diverse areas of Computer Science and Engineering, including Robotics, Machine Vision, Ad Hoc Networks, Image Processing, and Multi-Valued Computing Systems. He has authored and presented more than 100 research papers in reputed international journals and conferences.

One of his significant contributions to the field of Computer Science and Engineering is the Set-Theoretic Rajan Transform (STRT). In recognition of his contributions to Academics and Research & Development, he was conferred the “Distinguished Academician” Lifetime Achievement Award by the Board of Directors of Pentagram Research Centre (P) Ltd. in 2010.

Prof. Prateek is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). His academic leadership, research contributions, industry experience, and commitment to innovation continue to support the advancement of technology-driven and industry-oriented higher education.
